2 Cycling or walking in the Polders of Kruibeke
The largest flood plain in Flanders can be found in the Waasland region! The Polders of Kruibeke are located in the territory of Kruibeke, Bazel and Rupelmonde, all along the Scheldt. The area consists of over 650 hectares of nature reserve: an absolute cycling and walking paradise. The Verbeke Foundation is a place where culture, nature and ecology come together. With its 12 hectares of nature reserve and its 20,000 m² of indoor space, the Verbeke Foundation is one of the largest private initiatives for contemporary art in Europe. The contemporary museum displays art from its own collection, but also organises temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Work is even being carried out while you watch, so you get a look behind the scenes at the same time. Did you know you can even book an overnight stay in one of the artworks?

4. The Groot Saeftinghe border park with its unique radar tower
On the border of Flanders and Zeeland, a cross-border nature reserve of 4,700 hectares is being created. The Hedwege-Prosper polder is located on the Belgian side of the border, while the Dutch side has the Drowned Land of Saeftinghe to offer. On the radar tower of Beveren, you get to enjoy a 360° view of the polder, the Scheldt, the harbour and nature from a height of 8 metres. In the Groot Saeftinghe border park, you will experience a world of contrasts.
5. Visit the Castle Park of Beervelde
Beervelde is home to a 25-hectare castle park in English landscape style. Twice a year, it hosts the internationally renowned Beervelde Garden Festival. It is a treasure trove for the most discerning plant lovers. Count and Countess de Kerchove & de Denterghem still live on the castle grounds and are still closely involved in the promotion of ornamental horticulture. The estate is also known for the murals Roger Raveel painted there, along with Raoul De Keyser, Elias and Lucassen, in the cellars of the villa.
