3 Opinionated and contemporary: The Verbeke Foundation

The Verbeke Foundation is a place where culture, nature and ecology come together. With its 12 hectares of nature reserve and its 20,000 m² of indoor space, the Verbeke Foundation is one of the largest private initiatives for contemporary art in Europe. The contemporary museum displays art from its own collection, but also organises temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Work is even being carried out while you watch, so you get a look behind the scenes at the same time. Did you know you can even book an overnight stay in one of the artworks?

5. Visit the Castle Park of Beervelde

Beervelde is home to a 25-hectare castle park in English landscape style. Twice a year, it hosts the internationally renowned Beervelde Garden Festival. It is a treasure trove for the most discerning plant lovers. Count and Countess de Kerchove & de Denterghem still live on the castle grounds and are still closely involved in the promotion of ornamental horticulture. The estate is also known for the murals Roger Raveel painted there, along with Raoul De Keyser, Elias and Lucassen, in the cellars of the villa.
